Long experience and focus on quality
We are a mechanical workshop specializing in steel and metal work both on land and water.
We have extensive experience of service work on both ships and land-based installations. We combine this with modern solutions to help you with the challenges you face in shipping, construction or industry.
From wood projects to quality service
Our history stretches all the way back to the 1800s, with shipbuilding at Vestnes as the starting point. In 1896, brothers Nils and Lars Brastad built the wooden ship "Lyngen", which was 35-40 feet long. This was the start of many boat projects. In 1955, they built "Radin", the first longitudinal steel ship at a shipyard in Vestnes. The ship was 72 feet long and marked the start of an adventurous chapter in shipbuilding.
Today, we no longer build ships, but the experience and traditions from that time are an important part of our identity. In 1993, we changed our name from Brastad Skipsbyggeri to Brastad Skipsservice, and in 2024 we became Brastad Solutions. We now specialize in the production and assembly of steel and metal structures, and deliver projects both on land and at sea. Our work ranges from steel structures to buildings to machine installations on ships.
Modern facilities and a high level of expertise
We have modern production facilities in both Norway and Romania. Our site in Romania consists of indoor premises of 1,940 m² and is equipped with 2 overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of 16 tons each. In addition, we have an outdoor area of 5,000 m² for pre-assembly and storage. Our location in Norway consists of indoor premises of 750 m² and is equipped with an overhead crane of 5 tons.
Our authorized welders carry out the work according to strict requirements, with inspections such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing and X-ray inspection.
Quality, sustainability and certifications
We are certified for quality (ISO 9001:2015), environment (ISO 14001:2015) and health and safety (ISO 45001:2018). We are also certified according to EN 1090-2:2018, performance class EXC 3, and our welding workshop is approved according to EN ISO 3834-2.
